Kira Kalondy was born in Chihuahua, Mexico. She grew up in a small town called Namiquipa, located on the mountain range of western Mexico called “Sierra Madre Occidental”, in Chihuahua. The warmth, remote location and peaceful life of this town helped define the interests that would shape her life and Art. Kalondy’s vessels embody the dynamism of her everyday interaction with other individuals and the energy of nature through forms that speak of fluid organic simplicity.
Kalondy is currently an Assistant professor of Ceramics at Indiana State University in Terre Haute, Indiana. Exhibition accomplishments include an honorary mention by Judy Pfaff during the Texas National Juried Exhibition in Nacogdoches, TX. Other curators jurying her work included in exhibitions are: art critic Dave Hickey, Mel Chin, Roger Shimomura and James Surls.
